Exemplary Field-Based Practices

Exemplary School Partnerships

HOW

The Quest for Quality project invites Texas universities to nominate exemplary teaching candidates, faculty, practices, programs, partnerships and research for recognition by the project. The purpose of these nominations is to identify best practices and make them more widely known.  These nominations are  occurring in five phases over 2012 and 2013.

Phases

Phase 1 - Exemplary teacher candidates nominated by universities

The first phase in the Quest for Quality initiative is the nomination of Exceptional Teacher Candidates. This initiative is designed to highlight what is done well by identifying outstanding junior, senior, and post-baccalaureate teacher candidates from all Texas universities. Universities will have the opportunity to review and nominate current teaching candidates that have demonstrated exceptional academic and instructional abilities. These teacher candidates, nominated by their universities, will be the vanguard for future Texas teacher candidates as they represent the ultimate goal of the Quest for Quality: exceptional teachers.

Phase 2 - Exemplary instructional practices of university teacher preparation faculties

The second phase of the Quest for Quality initiative is the nomination of exemplary faculty practices in teacher preparation. This initiative is designed to highlight what is done well by identifying exemplary teacher preparation practices in schools of education and arts and sciences in Texas universities. Faculty are invited to submit artifacts with commentary to illustrate exemplary faculty practices they have designed that prepare teachers to excel.

Phase 3 - Field-based instructional practices in university teacher preparation programs

The third phase of the Quest for Quality initiative is the nomination of exemplary field-based instructional practices in teacher preparation. This initiative is designed to highlight what is done well by identifying exemplary field-based teacher preparation practices in Texas universities. Universities are invited to describe exemplary field-based program opportunities designed to prepare teachers to excel.

Phase 4 - Exemplary K-12 Partnerships

The fourth phase of the Quest for Quality initiative is designed to highlight what is done well by identifying exemplary K-12 Partnerships such as Induction Programs, or Continuing Professional Development practices developed at Texas universities. Universities are invited to nominate K-12 Partnership initiatives designed both to prepare teacher candidates to excel and to improve K-12 schools.

Phase 5 - Faculty research on teacher preparation and teaching quality

The fifth phase of the Quest for Quality initiative is the nomination of exemplary faculty research on teacher preparation and teaching quality. This initiative is designed to highlight important faculty research on teacher preparation and teaching quality being conducted in Texas universities. Universities will be invited to describe important new faculty research on teacher preparation and teaching quality.
