  • About Our Practice

    Mobile devices are changing the way teachers teach and students learn. Today's teachers must go beyond lecture and teach as though their students have all the information in the world at their fingertips, because they do. To address this need, Texas A&M University-Texarkana has launched the iINSPIRE INITIATIVE. The purpose of this project was to train education faculty, prospective teachers and certified teachers to incorporate current technologies into classroom instruction in a way that directly impacts educational outcomes.

  • Key Practice Features

    The iINSPIRE INITIATIVE is conducted using direct educator input to determine real-world classroom professional development needs. The initiative meets with educators to identify state/region/district instructional technology needs and goals, purchase corresponding technology to address those needs, and provides professional development around those needs. The project maintains a special focus on incorporating Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) activities into coursework and sharing these activities with faculty, teacher candidates and classroom educators on a regular basis. Specific technologies covered by the iINSPIRE INITIATIVE include:

About Faculty Practices

Exemplary faculty practices are innovative methods of conveying both knowledge and experience to teacher candidates in such a way as to prepare them to excel as leaders in the classroom.

Such practices may be the work on one faculty member, a group of faculty members or a department-wide practice in a teacher preparation program.
