  • About Our Practice

    It is a mission of our program to provide undergraduate students with the highest level of quality teaching. In order to accomplish this mission, students need to not only acquire knowledge but also have the opportunities to apply their knowledge to real world settings. It is very clear that the State of Texas Learning Outcomes and Standards require this as the outcomes specify that students will gain knowledge and apply their knowledge in the specific standard area. It is my mission as an instructor of undergraduate students to provide them with field experiences, active learning through in-class activities, scenario type readings with follow-up questions, small group projects which elicit brain-storming and problem solving, and ongoing student assessment measures that reflect authentic testing. These are excellent methods to enhance and boost student engagement.

Exemplary faculty practices are innovative methods of conveying both knowledge and experience to teacher candidates in such a way as to prepare them to excel as leaders in the classroom.

Such practices may be the work on one faculty member, a group of faculty members or a department-wide practice in a teacher preparation program.
