  • About Our Practice

The primary purpose of TED 4307 is to provide pre-service teachers with pedagogical strategies for teaching elementary science; as well as to increase their factual and conceptual understanding of science. Students are required to produce a 5-7 minute video about a specific science concept using iMovie. Additionally, students create five-question multiple choice quizzes that address the science content presented in their videos.

  • Key Practice Features

The purpose of the TED 4307 video project is two-fold: (1) students must research and develop deep conceptual understanding of a science concept so they can then create a movie that conveys correct scientific information, and (2) students develop the skills and confidence needed to research other science topics in the future as they experience the necessity of teaching those topics in their own classrooms. The project develops pre-service teachers’ knowledge in the discipline; incorporates the use of technology; and, encourages students to investigate, analyze, and solve problems.
